My name is Alexandru Victor Constantin, I am born on September 9th 1974 and I live in Romania, Iasi city.
I have a giant pelvic chondrosarcoma, an expansive tumor having the sizes 15,5 x 9,5 x 23 cm, developed from the left thigh-bone, with extension in the hemi-pelvis to the level of section which passes through L5, which marks the bladder and displaces it to the right lateral, invades the internal iliac vessels on the left side, displaces anteriorly and laterally the left vascular femoral package, invades the left internal obturator muscle and the left gluteus minimus, the left iliac bone.
I have such a tumor, of small size, on my left thigh-bone, too. On my right thigh-bone I have an exostosis with stationary aspect.
I mention that I am 160 cm tall and I weigh 54 kg.
I also had a giant chondrosarcoma in my spine, which covered the vertebrae L4 – L5, and which was entirely removed through a surgery in December 2003 and it hasn’t appeared since.
The chondrosarcomas developed on the background of some hereditary multiple exostoses.
Regarding the evolution of these tumors, I mention that beginning with 1999 the chondrosarcoma in my spine started to grow. Initially, the doctors asserted that it was a hereditary benign exostosis and that it was not necessary to remove it by surgery because of the risks drawn in by the surgery.
During the following years the tumor on the spine grew dramatically and in 2003 they decided its removal through surgery.
In view of performing the surgery, they had to do a CT (computerized tomography) on me and that was when they discovered the existence of the giant chondrosarcoma in my pelvis. As I had specified before, the giant chondrosarcoma in my spine was entirely removed in December 2003. The results of the pathological anatomic tests showed that the tumor was a chondrosarcoma of 1st degree.
In July 2004 I had a new surgery for the giant pelvic chondrosarcoma, but all they could do was a partial excision of the tumor. From the pathological anatomic tests it resulted that the tumor was also a chondrosarcoma of 1st degree.
Between 2005 and 2008 I took cytostatic treatment: cyclophosphamide, methotrexate and UFT (tegafur – uracil), under the form of pills.
I took MRI every year to determine the evolution of the giant pelvic chondrosarcoma. Between 2005 and May 2007 the tumor had a stationary aspect.
On December 12th 2008 I took a new MRI from which it resulted that since May 2007 the chondrosarcoma has grown, its maximum vertical diameter increasing by 3 cm, and the anteroposterior diameter increased by 2 cm.
The Romanian surgeons assert that the tumor is not operable.
The Romanian oncologists assert that there is no oncological treatment for chondrosarcoma.
At present I feel pain in the tumor’s area and in foot joints and I present difficulties with walking. For sustenance I benefit of a pension for 1st degree handicap and I am taken care of by my parents and my sister.
I am looking for a solution in view of recovery or at least for the disease’s remission.

Povestea mea

Mă numesc Alexandru Victor Constantin , sunt născut la data de 9.09.1974 şi locuiesc în România , oraşul Iaşi .

Sufăr de condrosarcom gigant pelvis , tumoră expansivă cu dimensiunile de 15,5 x 9,5 x 23 cm dezvoltată de la femurul stâng , cu extensie în hemibazinul stâng până la nivelul de secţiune ce trece prin prin L5 , care amprentează vezica urinară şi o deplasează lateral dreapta , invadează vasele iliace interne pe partea stângă , deplasează anterior şi lateral pachetul vascular femural stâng , invadează muşchiul opturator intern stâng şi micul fesier stâng , osul iliac stâng .

O tumoră asemănătoare , de dimensiuni mai mici a crescut pe femurul stâng . Pe femurul drept prezint o exostoză cu aspect staţionar .

Precizez că am înălţimea de 1, 60 m şi 54 Kg .

Am mai avut un condrosarcom gigant la coloana vertebrală , care cuprindea vertebrele L 4 - L5 , care a fost îndepărtat integral printr-o operaţie chirurgicală efectuată în luna decembrie 2003 şi care nu a mai apărut .

Condrosarcoamele s-au dezvoltat pe fondul unor exostoze multiple ereditare .

Cu privire la evoluţia acestor tumori arăt că începând cu anul 1999 a început să crească condrosarcomul de pe coloana vertebrală . Iniţial medicii au susţinut că este o exostoză ereditară benignă şi că nu trebuie extirpată chirurgical din cauza riscurilor pe care le implica operaţia chirurgicală .

În următorii ani tumora de pe coloana vertebrală a crescut foarte mult în dimensiuni şi în anul 2003 s-a decis înlăturarea ei prin operaţie chirurgicală .

În vederea efectuării operaţiei chirurgicale s-a efectuat o tomografie computerizată , ocazie cu care s-a constatat şi existenţa condrosarcomului gigant din pelvis . După cum am precizat anterior condrosarcom gigant de la coloana vertebrală a fost îndepărtat integral în decembrie 2003. Din analiza anatomo-patologică a tumorii a rezultat că era condrosarcom de gradul 1 .

În luna iulie 2004 am suferit o nouă intervenţie chirurgicală pentru condrosarcomul gigant pelvis , dar s-a reuşit doar excizia parţială a tumorii .

Din analiza anatomo-patologică a tumorii excizate a rezultat că este vorba tot de un condrosarcom de gradul 1 .

Între anii 2005-2008 am urmat tratament cu citostatice : ciclofosfamidă , metotrexat şi UFT ( tegafur – uracil ) , pe care le-am luat sub formă de pastile .

În fiecare an am efectuat IRM pentru a constata evoluţia condrosarcomului gigant pelvis . În perioada 2005 – mai 2007 tumora a avut un aspect staţionar .

La data de 12.12.2008 am efectuat un nou IRM din care a rezultat că din mai 2007 condrosarcomul gigant pelvis a crescut , diametrul maxim vertical crescând cu 3 cm , iar cel antero-posterior cu 2 cm .

Medicii chirurgi susţin că tumora din bazin este inoperabilă .

Medicii oncologi susţin că nu există tratament oncologic pentru condrosarcom .

În prezent am dureri în zona tumorii şi la articulaţiile picioarelor şi am dificultăţi la mers . Pentru întreţinere beneficiez de o pensie de handicap gradul I şi sunt îngrijit de părinţii şi de sora mea .

Caut o soluţie pentru vindecare sau pentru staţionarea bolii .

De asemenea , doresc să discut cu persoane care suferă de aceeaşi boală .
